Welcome to Glasgow for the 51st Annual meeting of the British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. Some of you might remember attending the last meeting here in 1992 and it is our absolute pleasure to be able to welcome you again to this 2024 meeting.

We had an incredibly successful BSPED in 2023 in Manchester marking the phenomenal progress in Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes care over the last 50 years. This year’s theme is ‘Learning from Local, National and Global Experiences’ which is particularly important in the field of rare conditions where Glasgow has led the world in showing how pooling of expertise can overcome challenges and unlock new opportunities at a local as well as an international level.

The Programme Organising Committee are putting together an exciting scientific and clinically relevant programme as we move forwards in technology, treatments and personalised medicine. We will be covering a range of topics including diabetes management now and into the future as well as hot topics in obesity, hypoglycaemia, pituitary and thyroid dysfunction.

The meeting will be held at the Hilton Glasgow which stands on a site within the Anderston Commercial Zone. The hotel is noteworthy for being the first high-rise building over 20 storeys to be constructed in Glasgow since its tower block building boom of the 1960s & 70s.

Glasgow is well connected by road, rail and air. We would encourage you to not just attend the meeting but make a weekend of it to discover or re-acquaint yourself with a vibrant city and its surrounds; where you can do anything from exploring historical landmarks like Glasgow Cathedral, enjoying modern art at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, as well outdoor activities at Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

We hope you will be able to join us in Glasgow in October and look forward to meeting old friends, making new friends and sharing the learning experience from speakers across the UK.
